All births in Japan must be registered within 14 days. The birth must be registered at the Local Ward Office or City Hall in the area where the parents are resident, and the child will be added to the Koseki (family register) if one parent is Japanese.
Japan Death Certificate
The Japan Death Certificate are called Full version of family register (Koseki Tohon/Zenbu jiko shomeisho); Short version of family register (Koseki Shohon/Kojin jiko shomeisho) or Certificate of Acceptance of Notification of Death (Shibou todokedesho) which is issued by The Municipal (city, ward, town, village and etc.) Office of the applicant's legal domicile (honseki-chi). Family register (both full and short versions) can normally be obtained from a government office in the registered domicile (Honsekichi). Deaths must be registered within 7 days.
Japan Marriage Certificate
The Japan Marriage Certificate are called Full version of family register (Koseki Tohon/Zenbu jiko shomeisho); Short version of family register (Koseki Shohon/Kojin jiko shomeisho) or Certificate of Acceptance of Notification of Marriage (Konin juri shomeisho) which is issued by The Municipal (city, ward, town, village and etc.) Office of the applicant's legal domicile (honseki-chi). Family register (both full and short versions) can normally be obtained from a government office in the registered domicile (Honsekichi).
Japan Divorce Certificate
The Japan Divorce Certificate is called Full version of family register (Koseki Tohon/Zenbu jiko shomeisho); Short version of family register (Koseki Shohon/Kojin jiko shomeisho) or Certificate of Acceptance of Notification of Divorce (Rikon juri shomeisho) where the issuing authority is The Municipal (city, ward, town, village and etc.) Office of the applicant's legal domicile (honseki-chi). Foreign nationals who are legally resident in Japan are issued a resident card (Zairyu Card). An Individual Number Card is issued to citizens of Japan as well as legal residents. It was introduced in 2016 and replaces the Juki-Card.
