The Slovakia Birth Certificate is called a Birth Certificate (Rodný list) which is issued by The Vital records office (Matrika) in the place of birth. Births in Slovakia are recorded by the local Registrar within 3 days of the birth, and a birth certificate is issued. Late registrations are allowed when it is not physically possible for the parents to register within the 3 days. For an unmarried father to be named on the birth certificate, both parents must first swear the declaration of paternity at a notary public’s office and then supply these declarations when registering the birth.
Slovakia Death Certificate
The Slovakia Death Certificate is called a Death Certificate (Úmrtný list) which is issued by The Vital Records offices (Matrika) in the place of death. All deaths must be registered within 3 days of the death then a death certificate is issued. Late registrations are allowed.
Slovakia Marriage Certificate
The Slovakia Marriage Certificate is called a Marriage Certificate (Sobášny list) which is issued by The Vital Records offices (Matrika) in the place of marriage. Marriages are legal in Slovakia when conducted in either a registrar office or one of the recognised churches. If the church is not recognised the couple would need to have a civil marriage at a registrar office. Civil marriages are registered on the first working day after the marriage. Religious marriages performed by one of the recognised churches must be registered within 3 days by the minister conducting the ceremony. Late registrations are allowed.
Slovakia Divorce Certificate
The Slovakia Divorce Certificate is called Divorce Judgment where the issuing authority is Slovak Courts. Each party to a divorce suit, which has taken place before Slovakian courts, may apply for an additional copy of the divorce decree. The original decree is normally delivered to each party provided the address is known.
Slovakia Identity Cards
The Slovakia Identity Card is called the Občiansky preukaz (citizen card). The Občiansky preukaz (citizen card) is Compulsory for citizens 15 and older and is used to identify the bearer in daily interaction with authorities. The citizen card includes the bearer's photograph, birth date, address, and unique number.
Is Slovakia a member of the Hague Service Convention?
Slovakia is a signatory to the Hague Service Convention (Convention of 15 November 1965). Slovakia objects to service under Articles 10(a), 10(b), and 10( c ) within its territory.
